Duties and Responsibilities: Richard T. Lau & Associates, house counsel for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company, is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney for the Jericho, Long Island office. Responsible for a high volume caseload from discovery stage through trial.  Will require travel and appearances in the NY Metro area and Long Island. Candidates must be licensed to practice in NY. Benefits include health, vision, dental, pension and 401k. Handles litigation and other legal assignments in accordance with guidelines established by the Law Department Performs all other duties as assigned Additional Details: Job entry requirements: J.D., preferably from an A.B.A. Accredited Law School, in the top half of graduating class and an active member in good standing of Bar in state of operation Other than authorized and pro bono work, incumbents are not permitted to handle any legal business outside of the Company and candidates must cease all outside practice and all suit involvement before joining State Farm Must successfully complete orientation and training program as designated by the Managing Attorney or the Law Department Travels via commercial transportation or driving to job related activities May work irregular hours because of workload and nature of the work Meets State Bar requirements and maintains legal competency by participation in continuing legal education programs Competencies required for this role include: Critical Thinking, Customer Focus, Decision Making and Judgment, Industry Knowledge, Leadership   Requisition ID: req5978

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
